TWISTED FOLK ANNOUNCES IMPORTANT CHANGES TO A FISTFUL OF TWISTED FOLK III
Posted January 26, 2011
Due to extended renovation work occurring at The Old Vic Tunnels after a recent fire, A Fistful of Twisted Folk III can unfortunately no longer take place at this venue on 16th February.
But have no fear, we have found a new venue for this show in the shape of XOYO, the converted printworks just minutes from Old Street tube station.
Due to this change of venue, we will also be moving the date back to Sunday 3rd April. We do hope you can still make it.
Although The Black Atlantic will no longer be able to perform, we will still be hosting a plethora of twisted talent across two performance spaces, headlined by the superb Dizraeli and the Small Gods who have also been working on a special collaboration for you with folk singer Chris Wood and flautist Philippe Barnes. More details can be found elsewhere on the site.
Current e-tickets will be valid for the new date of Sunday 3rd April. If you have bought a ticket but are now unable to attend, a refund can be obtained from Music Glue up until 15th February. All ticket holders will receive an email with full information and instructions on this. Please get in touch through our contact page if you do not receive an email within the next 24 hours.
Twisted Folk Announce Line-Up Change at Eurosonic Showcase
Posted January 12, 2011
Due to unforseen circumstances, Ellen and The Escapades will no longer be able to play the Twisted Folk showcase at Holland’s Eurosonic Festival this Friday 14th January. Please see below for an official statement from the band:
Ellen and the Escapades are truly sorry to have to announce the cancellation of their performance at Eurosonic 2011. Unfortunately the brother of a band member was involved in an accident this week and remains critically ill in hospital.
Twisted Folk is however pleased to announce that I am Oak will now be added to the bill for this show.
I am Oak is the creative output of Utrecht-based musician Thijs Kuijken. Warm and soothing songs with an acoustic guitar and vocal backbone are complimented with strategically placed layers of colorful vocal harmonies, banjo, bass, organ and minimalistic beats, all carefully constructed in his room. The debut album ‘On Claws’ contains a dark and melancholy folk music not heard before in the Netherlands.
Performance Times for the showcase at the USVA Theatre this Friday 14th January will therefore be as follows:
20:00 MODDI (no)
21:00 THIS IS THE KIT (uk)
22:00 I AM OAK (nl)
23:00 THE BLACK ATLANTIC (nl)
